Yanga FC has made it clear that it is in the process of completing a major signing that is expected to create buzz both locally and internationally. Internal reports indicate that Yanga has intervened in Simba’s pursuit of Singida Black Stars star striker, Elvis Rupia, who is currently the top scorer in the Tanzania Mainland Premier League.
Initially, Simba was linked with a plan to sign the Kenyan striker, and negotiations had already begun. However, Yanga has emerged as a contender for Rupia’s signature, and is now likely to officially announce the striker at any time.
Yanga’s Press Officer, Ali Kamwe, explained that the club is making registrations to improve its squad during the limited registration window. “We have already made the first registration by signing Israel Mwenda on loan from Singida Black Stars. Now, in the next two days, we expect to complete one of the biggest registrations,” said Kamwe.
Kamwe added that the registration process was difficult, but Yanga’s leadership has managed to overcome the challenges. “Everything has gone well, and when announcing this player, many people will be surprised. This is a one-of-a-kind signing,” he stressed.
In addition to Rupia, Kamwe explained that the club is continuing to negotiate with other players, although he admits that this transfer window has been difficult because many of the best players are in their teams and it is difficult for their clubs to let them go.
TP MAZEMBE ARRIVE IN DAR TO PREPARE WITH YANGA
Meanwhile, TP Mazembe from the Democratic Republic of Congo is expected to arrive in Dar es Salaam today at 11:00 pm for the group stage match of the African Champions League. The match will be played on Saturday at 10:00 pm at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Yanga coach, Sead Ramovic, continues to prepare his team with intense preparations for the important match. In the previous match held in Lubumbashi, the teams drew 1-1.
Currently, Yanga is in last place in Group A with one point after three matches. The team needs a necessary victory to continue to have hopes of qualifying for the quarter-finals of the tournament.
